A Disciple’s Commission - Part 1

Today, we look at the first part of a two-part teaching. It is in Mark 6, where Jesus sends out the 12, two by two. Imagine how this must have felt for them; they were expected to go out without Jesus and do the things He did. I am sure this was an essential stage in their discipleship training. Let’s go now with J Mark and learn together about the…read more

Amazing Unbelief

Hello, and welcome. It is a privilege to open the Word and study it with you. In scripture, there are many examples of what we should do and the kind of people we should be. As God’s servants, we desire to please our master; we live for the day when we will hear him say, “Well done, good and faithful servant.” However, not everything given in the Bible is an example of what to do; sometimes the story presented is an example of what we should not do. Today we have such a story. Please learn from Mark 6 and do not respond as the people in Jesus’ hometown did.

Don’t Be Afraid, Just Believe

It is so good to be with you again today. We are honored to be here and consider it a privilege to look into the Word of God with you. We believe Jesus was fully human and fully God. This is not something we can easily explain or understand, but His life shows He was God. Who else could control the weather, and who else holds power over all spiritual forces? Today, we will look at two examples of Jesus healing people: one in which he heals a person after 12 years of illness, and the other in which he brings a person back to life.

Going to the Dark Side - Part 2

Thank you so much for being there for part two of “Going to the Dark Side.” As followers of Jesus, we recognize the reality of both the spiritual and physical realms and exalt Jesus as King of both. All followers of Christ also know that a spiritual battle is raging. Satan is fighting for souls. In John 10, Jesus tells us Satan comes to steal, kill, and destroy. The spiritual battle we are in is intense and real. We must always be on guard and fight. I encourage you, never give up, always be vigilant.

Going to the Dark Side - Part 1

Today, in our lesson, Jesus shows us that he is the King of kings. This includes the spiritual realm. All angels and demons know Jesus is their King and treat him as such. Let’s go with Jesus to the Gadarenes and learn together. J Mark won’t finish this lesson today, but next time there will be part two of this engaging lesson. Turn now to Mark 5 and follow along as J Mark reads this story.

Is Jesus in Your Boat?

Today, our study is on the well-known story of Jesus calming the storm and the sea. Imagine being with the disciples on that boat, feeling the wind, being tossed back and forth by the waves, and, of course, being scared. As the storm gets worse, your fear grows. So, you wake up Jesus and ask him for help. After just three powerful words, “Peace, be still!” Everything changes, everything is still, including the water. How would you respond? What would you do with Jesus? Two thousand years later, this is still the question. We may not see Him calm the storm, but the question remains: What will you do with Jesus?

The Mystery of the Kingdom

Our title today is The Mystery of the Kingdom. Here in Mark 4, Jesus gives us several things His kingdom is like. Turn there if you can, and J Mark, we will explore this topic in today’s teaching.

A Fruitful Life - Part 2

Today, we are finishing the second part of A Fruitful Life, taken from this familiar parable in Mark 4. Even though we have all heard this before, let’s pay attention to what God is revealing to us now.

A Fruitful Life - Part 1

It is so good to be with you again today. Thank you for joining us as we study God’s Word. Jesus was a master teacher; we can all learn from how he taught and interacted with his audience. Over and over, we see Him speaking to the people in parables. This is such a great way to connect with and engage the audience. Today in Mark 4, we get to the first parable in the book of Mark, and in these verses, Jesus even gives us part of the reason he speaks in parables. I am guessing this is not your first time hearing this parable, but I am sure there is something here for all of us to learn.

A House Divided

Thank you for joining us as we look into the Word of God together. Last time in Mark 3, we looked at what it means to lead well. In today’s lesson, the scribes give us an example of poor leadership; they attribute the works of Jesus to demons. This is the passage many are confused with as Jesus talks about blaspheming the Holy Spirit—the sin which cannot be forgiven.

A Model for Leaders

Our lesson today is from Mark 3, and we will examine the example of Jesus to learn how we can become better leaders. Learning about leadership from the best leader is a great place to start.
